Adopt Mimsy and Lottie

During a morning walk through Woorabinda Bushland Reserve in Stirling, Mary, a member of the public, and her daughter, first noticed four kangaroos guarding something. Mimsy was on the ground cuddling her joey, Lottie.
X-rays indicated that Mimsy had a 3–4-week-old leg fracture which had already begun the healing process. Her injury would have prevented her from climbing trees effectively and resulted in Lottie being carried on her back for a considerable period.
Mimsy and Lottie both came into care and because Mimsy required strong medication coupled with the fact that she was still feeding Lottie, the difficult decision was made to separate them. Mimsy needed all her strength to continue the healing process whilst having as many calories as possible to promote continued bone repair.
After 6 weeks the fracture had healed correctly and enabled Mimsy to be able to climb once again. As Mimsy and Lottie were reunited they both behaved as if they had never been separated.
A few weeks later they were released together back to Stirling. It was heartwarming watching Mimsy waiting for Lottie to reach her, before cuddling each other.
Mimsy’s journey was an example of her strength, her will to survive and of Mimsy’s extreme love for and protection of Lottie.
