Valerie & Sonny

This most precious mother and baby came into care 26/12/2021 after being accosted by a male koala who was in the same tree.
Valerie is around 7-8 years of age and Sonny 9 months old.
On retrieving Valerie and Sonny, it was noticed an abnormality of her right eye and since she was nursing her joey (and doing an excellent job) it was thought best to take Valerie and Sonny into care and get both mum and joey checked by one of our vets.
On assessment, it was confirmed that she was blind in the right eye but managing extremely well to look after Sonny and herself.
As the weather had been extremely hot around the time of Valerie and Sonny’s rescues, with 3 days in a row of 38C (100.4F), Valerie’s kidney values were rather high, so she will remain in care to be monitored for improvement.
